Let's Review A Couple of Useful Android Applications

Twinkl Alphabet

A sweet educational app for preschoolers

Using your smartphone as an educational tool is a brilliant idea, and there are a lot of decent apps out there that let you learn about exciting new subjects. When it comes to younger children though, there's less available on Google Play Store than you might find over at the dark side on Apple's App Store.

It's a shame, because interactive digital learning offers up a whole new avenue for teaching your children. Twinkl Alphabet Flashcards is one of the few apps that is available, and the whole it's really rather good. out in bright colours, and with of cheery cartoon pictures, the app slowly introduces users to the idea of phonics.

There are flashcards that say words when you tap them, or ones you can scroll through with your child and help them with. Then there's a simple handwriting tutorial that teaches kids the right shapes for the different letters. It's a great little package, although it should definitely be experienced on a larger screen if you,re planning on sharing the experience with your children. A great way to get them learning and have some fun at the same time.

Twinkl Alphabet is a bright and breezy way to get your kids leaning while having fun.

Instant Call Recorder

Record and save calls on your phone

Recording calls can be a y -5/ problem, but this useful app just about manages to find a way around that. You can select how it records conversations, which conversations it automatically kicks in on, and what format it saves them as. They are then stored in an easy-to-access log. The sound quality isn't always great, and there are no options to move the logs.

With a few tweaks this could be a must have; right now it's just a decent option.

Avocado

A one-on-one social network.

Avocado is a one-on-one y messaging service that's designed to be used only by you and your significant other. It's a way of keeping in touch privately, with a shared account that means only you and your partner can access the content on the app. It's certainly taking the idea of a niche social network to its ultimate and logical conclusion - and some may say a bit too far-but if you feel like you need a place where you and one loved one can communicate privately, there aren't really all that many alternatives out there.
